Fridged Cold

Friday, June 17 was a definite example of ambition run amok. I took the day off to help out with a church project that fell through. The natural thing to do was take a bike ride with Steve. Well, Steve had some obligations with camp meeting later in the day we had to leave early. So I left home at 4:50 am to pick up Steve and hit Bogus Basin Road. We started riding shortly after first light. As we were climbing it was raining, but we stayed ahead of the rain most of the way up (about 3,500 feet over 15.7 miles). When we turned around we were headed back into the rain. This was cold, very cold. We had some basic rain gear, but not enough. So, we would ride for a mile until the shivering started up, then stop and run in place until the shivering passed. We both agreed that neither of us would have gone for the ride had we not wanted to look weak.
